Collier County Elections office accepting applications through Monday, March 18th
Collier County, FL—March 14, 2013: Florida residents enrolled or accepted as full-time students in a senior college or university in Florida have until this Monday, March 18th, to submit an application for the 2013 Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE) “Jimmy Whitehouse” Scholarship. Jennifer J. Edwards, Collier County Supervisor of Elections is currently accepting applications for the $1,200 award.
To be eligible, applicants must be Political Science, Public or Business Administration, or Journalism/Mass Communication majors who have finished two years of junior college or undergraduate work. Students should also demonstrate a financial need and be registered to vote in Florida.
The scholarship application and guidelines are available at www.CollierVotes.com, or may be obtained at the Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office located at 3295 Tamiami Trail East, Naples.
Completed applications and two letters of recommendation must be submitted by March 18th to the Supervisor of Elections of the county in which the applicant is registered to vote. Each county\'s Supervisor will review the applications received and select one finalist to be sent to the FSASE Scholarship Committee. The committee will announce the scholarship recipient at the FSASE Summer Conference in June.
FSASE is a statewide, professional organization of the sixty-seven county Supervisors of Elections, dedicated to “supporting fair, honest and accurate elections in the state of Florida". The scholarship honors former Highlands County Supervisor of Elections, Jimmy Whitehouse, who passed away in 2000.
