Collier County, Fla. - June 11, 2014: The Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office was privileged to attend the Naturalization Ceremony held today in recognition of Refugee Day 2014. The ceremony took place at Hodges University and approximately 50 new American citizens from more than 20 different countries had the opportunity to register as Collier County voters.

Among those who applied, was Phillippa Reid, who is originally from the United Kingdom. “Voting!” Phillippa responded when she was asked what the most important aspect of being an American is. “Voting on healthcare, education and other issues that will affect my children’s future,” she explained.

The Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office received a total of 36 registration applications at today’s event. Those who attended the ceremony were also reminded of the upcoming 2014 elections. In order to vote in the Primary Election on August 26, voters must be registered by Monday, July 28.
