NEWS RELEASE: Elections Office Wins Awards for 2018 Get Out the Vote Programs

Collier County, Fla.— 8/15/2019: the Florida Public Relations Association honored the Collier County Supervisor of Elections office with two Awards of Distinction and a Judges’ Award during their Annual Summer Conference this month.

The awards recognized the office’s outstanding efforts to encourage voters to participate in the 2018 elections. The 2018 Collier Votes Local integrated marketing campaign received an Award of Distinction for the various strategies implemented to connect voters with the many important reasons to participate in local elections. Efforts included a produced video featuring community leaders, social media promotions and forming relationships with the media to assist in spreading awareness. The Millennial Votes Matter public service campaign was also recognized with an Award of Distinction and a Judges’ Award for efforts made to stress the importance of voting in local elections, specifically targeting millennials who are often disengaged from the voting process. Both campaigns saw a high level of achievement including an overall turnout of 74% during the General Election - a 13% increase from the 2014 General Election.

In order to qualify for judging, Golden Image Award entries must incorporate sound public relations research and planning and must meet the highest standard of production, implementation and evaluation of results within the means of a budget. An Award of Distinction may be presented to entries that meet the standards of excellence set by a panel of judges. A Judges’ Award is presented for an outstanding entry that achieves maximum results while using a minimum amount of money.

“We are extremely proud of the efforts we made in 2018 to get the vote out and we are honored to have been recognized by the Florida Public Relations Association.” – Jennifer J. Edwards, Supervisor of Elections.
