NEWS RELEASE: Manual Recounts Ordered in U.S. Senate, Commissioner of Agriculture

Collier County, Fla.— November 15, 2018: Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner has ordered statewide manual recounts in two races: U.S. Senate and Commissioner of Agriculture.

The state ordered these manual recounts because a difference of less than one quarter of one percent of votes cast for an office exists between candidates in these races.

The Collier County Canvassing Board will hold the following manual recounts and meetings on Friday, November 16, 2018:

  • 9:00 a.m.: Canvassing Board Meeting to canvass Collier County Judge, Group 2, manual recount ballots

  • 12:00 p.m.: Commissioner of Agriculture Manual Recount

  • 2:00 p.m.: Canvassing Board Meeting to canvass Commissioner of Agriculture manual recount ballots

  • 4:00 p.m.: United States Senate Manual Recount

  • 5:30 p.m.: Canvassing Board Meeting to canvass United States Senate manual recount ballots


The Collier County Canvassing Board will hold the following meetings on Saturday, November 17, 2018:

  • 5:05 p.m.: Review of Overseas Vote-by-Mail ballots, Official Certification, and Conduct of Election Report.


Per Florida law all recounts must be complete by noon on Sunday, November 18, 2018. The public and media are invited to attend all Canvassing Board meetings and to observe the recount.
