Collier County, Fla.—08/31/2018: The Collier County Supervisor of Elections office was honored with an Award of Distinction and Judges Award by the Florida Public Relations Association during their Annual Summer Conference this month.
The awards recognized the office’s outstanding efforts during the fifth annual High School Voter Registration Challenge, which was postponed due to Hurricane Irma. Through planning and coordinating with the Collier County Public Schools, the elections office was able to continue the challenge post-Irma and saw the highest voter registration numbers in the competition’s history – nearly doubling the number of student registrations from the prior year.
In order to qualify for judging, Golden Image Award entries must incorporate sound public relations research and planning and must meet the highest standard of production, implementation and evaluation of results within the means of a budget. An Award of Distinction may be presented to entries that meet the standards of excellence set by a panel of judges. A Judges’ Award is presented for an outstanding entry that achieves maximum results while using a minimum amount of money.
“We are extremely honored to have been recognized for our efforts during our annual High School Voter Registration Challenge. Even faced with the challenge of Hurricane Irma, our team received over 1,000 voter registration applications. Qualified voters who turn 18 on or before November 6 will have an opportunity to vote in the next election!” – Jennifer J. Edwards, Supervisor of Elections
