Collier County, Fla.—November 8, 2017: The Collier County Supervisor of Elections office has partnered, once again, with the Collier County Public School system to present an art contest encouraging students of all ages to express the spirit of democracy through art.
“The vision for the Art for Democracy project is to obtain, showcase and judge artwork that expresses what democracy means to our student artists.” – Jennifer J. Edwards, Supervisor of Elections.
A $500 scholarship will be awarded to one winning entry submitted by a high school student and a $500 donation will be awarded to the art program at the school with the “Best of Show” entry. Four additional runner-up entries will be featured in election materials distributed by the elections office educating voters on the voting process. The $500 awards are provided by Champions For Learning through the Chuck Mohlke Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation of Collier County. Mr. Mohlke left a legacy of respect, charity, kindness, and a commitment to civic engagement and passion for learning.
A call for entries began on October 5 and the deadline to submit pieces of art is on November 16. Winning entries will be announced on Friday, December 4, 2017. For further information, please visit the Collier County Supervisor of Elections website at www.CollierVotes.com or call (239) 252-VOTE.
