Collier County, Fla.—3/3/2020: In the history of Presidential Preference Primary Elections, we have inevitably seen presidential candidates suspend their campaigns as voters across the nation have begun voting in their statewide elections.
The deadline for candidates to have submitted a formal withdrawal from the Florida ballot was December 9, 2019. Candidates who suspended their campaign after that date remain on the ballot. As of March 3 the following Democratic candidates, who have suspended their campaign, will appear on the ballot: Michael Bennet, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Julian Castro, John Delaney, Amy Klobuchar, Deval Patrick, Joe Sestak, Tom Steyer, Marianne Williamson and Andrew Yang. Republican candidate Joe Walsh has also suspended his campaign.
When voters cast their ballot, they are making a final decision in the election. They do not have an opportunity to retrieve their voted ballot or cast another ballot if they change their mind or if a candidate they previously voted for suspends their campaign. A vote cast for any candidate appearing on the ballot will count as a vote for that candidate.
Early Voting in Collier County for the Presidential Preference Primary Election will take place March 7-14 and polls will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily. The deadline for voters to request a Vote-by-Mail ballot is Saturday, March 7. Tuesday, March 17, is Election Day and the last opportunity to vote in the Presidential Preference Primary Election. Polls will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. and voters must vote in their assigned precinct.
