Who are Election Workers?

How Can I Become an Election Worker?
There are two ways:

  • Call the Supervisor of Elections Poll Worker Coordinator at 252-8052 and request an application.

  • Complete an online request form.

Once the completed application has been received you will be notified to attend your Orientation session.
All new election workers are required to attend an unpaid orientation.

Positions

The Clerk is in charge of the Precinct and is ultimately responsible for the performance of the precinct on election day. Computer skills to access voter information is required.

The Assistant Clerk assists the Clerk in completing forms necessary to update a voter's record. Computer skills to access voter information is required.

The Inspector checks the precinct register for the voter's name, verifies ID, and monitors the equipment.

The Poll Deputy is responsible for setting up the signs outside the polling location in the morning and taking them down that night. During the day, the deputy remains outside the door of the polling location to greet the voters; ask them to have their I.D. ready for the Inspector; make sure the voting room doesn't get crowded during heavy voting periods. And is responsible for maintaining order at the poll site and is sworn in by the Sheriff.
